Are Cheap Dehumidifiers Ripping You Off?
We Brits love a bargain, but at what cost? The familiar phrase “you get what you pay for” applies to dehumidifiers. Find out how cheap dehumidifiers are ripping you off and what to do instead.
What’s Wrong with Cheap Dehumidifiers?
The simple answer to this question? Lots. Here, we’ll discuss exactly what’s wrong with cheap dehumidifiers.
They’re Not Designed for the UK Climate
If you’re thinking about buying a Chinese-manufactured dehumidifier, think again. These are built for the European, not the UK, climate. In Europe, the primary reason they buy dehumidifiers is because of high temperatures and humidity. We suffer the opposite problem in the UK – it’s cold and damp!
Dehumidifiers made in China can’t handle the excessive moisture in UK homes.
They’re Low Quality
Like a lot of things, going cheap means sacrificing quality. Cheap dehumidifiers are built with low-quality parts that aren’t made to last. Even if they don’t break quickly, they won’t work efficiently, meaning you’ll be forking out on energy costs.
Their Features are Subpar
Most cheap dehumidifiers have a manual humidistat. These have an adjustable dial where you can set the humidity level. For this to work effectively, you’d need to change the dial frequently throughout the day.
The mid-range and more expensive dehumidifiers have automatic control systems that do the work for you.
What Should You Buy Instead?
Ebac have solved the problems of cheap dehumidifiers. They have developed new technology, which they call “Smart Control.” Dehumidifiers with Smart Control are controlled by a fully automated system. It assesses the air every 30 minutes, checking the moisture and humidity levels and adjusting the dehumidifier accordingly.
If the moisture levels are low, the dehumidifier will switch itself off. When moisture begins to rise, the dehumidifier will turn back on. This saves you time and energy!
What’s more, they’re specifically made for the UK climate. And all at a reasonable price!
