Much effort goes into making a washing machine quiet. It’s not as simple as one tiny tweak – it involves an entirely different design and highly sophisticated parts. Let’s explore the different sound levels of quiet washing machines.
Washing vs Spinning
The drum rotates much quicker when spinning laundry, making it louder than the wash setting. Washing machines can reach volumes of 80 decibels A (dBA) when on a spin setting. That’s as loud as heavy traffic!
The washing setting is gentler, but with many washing machines, it’ll still often exceed 75 dBA. Ebac’s washing machines are 73 dBA on a spin setting and only 61 dBA on the wash setting. That’s far quieter than most brands!
You’ll get varying volumes dependent on a washing machine’s motor design. A simple brushless motor design will create lots of friction. This increases the likelihood of part degradation, which leads to noise.
Ebac’s brushless inverter-driven motor design is more sophisticated, using electromagnetic forces to turn the motor. This prevents any friction, thus decreasing the washing machine’s volume.
Washing Machine Pump
A cheap draining pump can quickly become damaged or clogged. You’d need to remove the drain pipe and clear any debris to stop the noise. Likewise, a low-quality water recirculation pump is bound to be noisy.
Ebac’s washing machines have high-spec draining and recirculation pumps, so you don’t need to worry about noise. The company’s 7-year full parts and labour guarantee ensures, even if your washing machine were to be noisy, they’d come and fix it, no questions asked.
The spider and bearings are two crucial connecting components. They join the motor to the drum. You want a washing machine with an extra-large motor and a greater capacity than you actually need. This ensures smooth (and quiet) operation.
A loud washing machine may indicate a damaged or faulty drum spider or bearings. This will cause a racket during washing machine vibrations. Ebac splashes out on expensive parts so you can be sure they won’t become damaged and noisy.
