With more and more people working from home, or simply not wanting their evenings to be interrupted by loud, annoying noises, it’s no surprise that quiet washing machines are more popular than ever.
So what is a quiet washing machine?
The noise of a washing machine is measured in decibels (dB). The higher than decibels, the noisier the washing machine. A washing machine is considered as ‘quiet’ if it is below 75 dB and ‘super quiet’ if it is below 60 dB. As a comparison, 60 dB is about the same volume as a conversation.
When considering the noise levels of a washing machine, it is important to keep in mind that a dB for washing and a dB for spinning will usually be shown. This is because the spin setting is louder than the wash setting.
Many washing machines are now designed to be quiet or super quiet, just like Ebac’s great range of quiet machines. Ebac’s quiet washing machines measure 61dB when washing and 73 dB when spinning – which is quieter than the vast majority of washing machines on the market.
Are quiet washing machines as effective as normal washing machines?
Some people worry that quiet washing machines do not wash their clothes as effectively, and their clothes may come out of the machine less clean or not smelling as fresh. However, this is not the case. The effectiveness and efficiency of the washing machine are not sacrificed to create a quieter machine.
Your quiet washing machine will still fulfil all its usual functions and provide you with the level of cleanliness you are used to. You can still choose different temperatures and settings and use the rinse and spin features – you just won’t have to worry about the noise of a washing machine intruding on your household again!
